Embay Academy

Accessibility statement

Embay Consulting Inc. wants everyone to be able to use Embay Academy, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or voice control. This statement describes how accessible the platform is today, what we know is not yet accessible, and how to reach us.

Conformance status

We aim for Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. Embay Academy is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA: most of the platform meets the standard, but some parts do not yet fully meet it. The known gaps are listed below.

What we do

  • Every change to the platform is tested automatically with axe-core on the sign-in, catalog, enrolment, course player, completion and report screens. A change that adds a serious accessibility error cannot be released.
  • Every page has a skip link to the main content, a visible focus indicator, and dialogs that keep and return keyboard focus.
  • Our colour pairs for text are checked against the 4.5:1 contrast ratio automatically, and organization colour themes are refused when they fall below it.
  • Anything you can reorder or move by dragging can also be moved with buttons.
  • The platform is available in English and French.

Known limitations

These parts of Embay Academy do not yet fully conform. We are working on each of them.

  • Some borders and dividers that separate content have a contrast ratio below 3:1 (success criterion 1.4.11). Controls you interact with have a stronger outline; the lighter lines are being reviewed.
  • The video player cannot yet show a caption file for uploaded videos. Captions are available when they are part of the video itself or come from YouTube or Vimeo.
  • When your organization sets a time limit on a quiz, you cannot extend it yourself. If you need more time, ask your learning administrator.
  • In September 2026 we reviewed the sign-in, catalog, course player and main administration screens by hand, with the keyboard and with the NVDA screen reader in Chrome, and fixed the problems we found. We have not yet tested with JAWS or VoiceOver, or in other browsers, so some screens may still work or announce less well than they should.
  • Some administration screens outside the main journeys have not yet been fully reviewed.
  • Downloaded PDF certificates and report exports are not yet tagged for assistive technology.
  • Organisations can add their own CSS to change the look of their portal. That CSS is not checked for accessibility.

Content provided by your organization

Courses, videos, documents and SCORM, cmi5 or AICC packages are created by your organization or its suppliers, not by Embay Consulting. Their accessibility, including captions and transcripts, depends on how they were made. If a course is not accessible to you, contact your organisation's learning administrator.

Feedback and contact

If you meet an accessibility barrier, or need information in another format, tell us. Say which page you were on and what you were trying to do.

How we assessed the platform

This statement is based on a self-evaluation: automated testing with axe-core on every change, a review of the code of the main journeys, and a hands-on review with the keyboard and the NVDA screen reader.
